THE BALEDON STUD

REVEL JANUS

REVEL JANUS

Sire: Clan Pip

Dam: Revel Jade

By: Owain Glyndwr

Though it is nearly 20 years since Janus died I feel he deserves some mention as without his tremendous influence the stud would not have achieved the success it has. He was a pony of the most wonderful type he had an outstanding temperament, and even now through his line his stock are still demanding high prices. He was a real character and is still missed.

Baledon Commanchero Winning the Royal Welsh

On the death of Col: Edward Williams -Wynn. I was very fortunate to be offered the Royal Welsh Champion mare Coed Coch Priciau, as I had so much success with the same cross to Chevalier with Gredington Blodyn I   was delighted when Mrs Cuff said she would take Priciau to Chevalier, sadly Commanchero was to be the only foal Priciau had for me as when he was 4 months old she died.

When Commanchero was born little did I realize what a supreme champion he would be, his first show was the West Midland Stallion Show he was Sup Champion M and M Yearling, from then on he never looked back.

He is the only pony to qualify for the N.P.S.Ridden Mountain and Moorland Championships at Olympia eight times He was a regular qualifier for the N.P.S.Mountain  and Moorland Working Hunter Pony  Finals at The Horse of the Year Show.He won the Sec B Ridden Mountain and Moorland  Finals at Ponies U.K.in 1996 & 97,Reserve Supreme Champion Working Hunter Pony Shearwater finals at Ponies U.K 97, International Overall Welsh Performance Champion 92,four times Ridden Champion at the Royal Welsh, twice Section B Stallion winner at the Royal Welsh  and Res Male Champion, J.C.B Mature Native Pony In hand Champion In total he won well over 250 Supremes Res Supremes Champions and Res, much thanks go to Tina Wilson, Kerry Wainwright, Wendy Evans, Kelly Lyons and Claire Smalley who all rode him so well and took him to Olympia .

In 1998 the Welsh Pony and Cob bestowed him with the highest accolade he was the recipient of the Brodrick Trophy  for his outstanding contribution to the breed  also that Year he had the Rookery Trophy for outstanding Ridden Achievement.

He has been a successful sire of ridden champions and the outstanding driving pony Tilston Cardinal see photo in the 2004 Welsh pony and cob society journal
